A 2500 hundred mile long mass of clouds far aloft is streaming from the WSW is over much of southern Baja today. This clouds mass is known as the Sub Tropical Jet Stream.
So far this year El Niño has had little impact on the winds on Baja’s East Cape winds.
One of the worst aspects of El Niño for the Rasta Beach Los Barriles corridor is the Sub Tropical Jet Stream’s clouds. These clouds deter the Coastal Valleys
heating that creates the weak local sea beezes and also it harder for any El Norte to curve to the beaches reliably and the combo makes any hint of the “evil” westerly wind more of an issue.
Adding to our wind misery today is a storm west of Los Angeles, California that is blocking the North Pacific High wind machine and keeping vague low-pressure in the 4-Corners region.
Normally we would still have weak northerly to easterly winds but with the clouds I expect only faint wind. There is a chance of sprinkles nearby and heavier showers north of La Paz.
