Saturday’s Wind Recipe:
- A cold front compacts the North Pacific High’s NW winds along the coast, with the Bodega buoy already 20g28. (Sadly, we have lost most of our once proud fleet of ocean buoys, which impairs forecast accuracy.
- In the AM heat induced low-pressure holds over the coast so weak winds until LATE as the low retreats a bit inland.
- With blue sky heating, a pressure gradient focused toward Stockton focuses upper-teens wind in the near Anita Rock to TI. to near Berkeley zone.
- This same gradient favors WNW upper-teens in the Stick/Coyote/3rd. Ave. Channel with mild launch site and PA. winds.
- We already have Año Nuevo clearing so expect upper-teens to 20 winds strongest SOUTH of Waddell and more promising near shore than recent days. Ocean Beach weak.
