Saturday’s Wind Recipe:
- Pt. Reyes SE 28g33 and fog blasting by the North Tower! That tells us that Big Eddy and southerly coast winds will rule all day!
-The eddy started as a Gulf of Alaska storm/cold front pushed high-pressure into the Pacific Northwest.
- This caused low-pressure to bulge over the coast from Sacramento to Bodega to Southern California.
- The resulting S.-N. pressure gradient stirred up an eddy from San Diego to Mendocino.
- The eddy has counter-clockwise wind support all the way to 5000 ft. aloft so it lingers all day.
- As these S. coast winds near the Hwy. 92 gap/Half Moon Bay gap and the Golden Gate they curve and accelerate towards a Sacramento pressure gradient.
- This produces low 20’s winds at the North Tower (Kenny would go!), fading to upper-teens Point Blunt, Brooks Island, to Benicia area, fading to mid to upper-teens for Sherman.
- A bit of Hwy. 92 gap area wind curves towards a weak Stockton gradient, so mid to weak upper-teens W/WNW in the 3rd Ave. Channel but weak and unfavorable for the launch sites.
