Human Forecast for May 3, 2025

Very EARLY Gusty winds for the entire coast and Bay including Ocean Beach for the “King of the Cove” Saturday!
Note: The San Francisco Department of Emergency Management has issued a HIGH WIND ADVISORY for blowing objects.
Now at 11:30 AM: With parts of the Bay and Central Valley still blanketed by high clouds, the pressure gradient may shift around. Right now the Stockton gradient > than the Bakersfield’s so 3rd. Ave. is seeing W. winds. As the very strong winds aloft transfer momentum to the surface the winds will be much stronger than forecast at times.
Saturday’s Wind Recipe: Use extreme caution launching kites at Ocean Beach, Alameda and 3rd. Ave. due to wild gusts.
1. A tightly wound 2500 mile wide NPH offers wild NW coast winds at dawn for Bodega to Waddell.
2. A massive gradient to Stockton to Bakersfield brings westerly wind into mid 20’s in the Anita Rock to Marina Bay to Berkeley. Slight chance Crissy may be wind shadowed.
3. That strong Stockton gradient brings mid to upper 20’s winds to Candlestick to Flying Tigers and mid/upper-teens to Alameda.
4. Powerful Bakersfield gradient brings upper-20’s to low 30’s WNW winds to launch sites at Coyote and 3rd to Palo Alto.
5. Strong winds ≈ 1000 feet aloft and blasts to the surface destroy the high-pressure bubble over Ocean Beach, so strong early winds for the contest
6. WNW upper-teens 20+ Rod and Gun zone and Benicia.
