So, San Diego isn’t exactly known for its wealth of wind. This is especially true in the summer. But today is an exception!
Just how has this happened?
- We’re seeing strong NW flow across the far outer waters of the bight.
- There is high heat in the inland areas as offshore flow prevails.
- A well-formed Catalina eddy has centered itself in just the right spot, south of San Clemente Island.
- There is mid-level and upper-level support, enabling the eddy to endure.
